The NBA trade deadline has passed, but the buyout deadline at the end of the month is one that many teams will be watching as the frenzy is far from being over.
Now that the NBA trade deadline has passed, and everyone’s head are still spinning, there is little time to rest before more action is going to inevitable come about. The trade season is over but it’s open season on the buyout market — which will include many of the names traded today.
Kendrick Perkins is among those potential names, as the Utah Jazz acquired the big man from the Oklahoma City Thunder but aren’t expected to keep him very long. It cost the Jazz Enes Kanter to acquire Perkins, but this is more about the money they will save on cap space then it is about getting equal return for Kanter.
According to Dave McMenamin from ESPN, the Cleveland Cavaliers have interest in Kendrick Perkins if he’s bought out by the Utah Jazz — which is rather likely at this juncture.

This makes more than a little sense, as the Cavaliers didn’t make any moves at the deadline but have the need to get as solid as possible for the postseason. Adding Perkins as a Sixth Man could work, as he wouldn’t star in Cleveland but he’d come off the bench and provide plenty of depth.
That’s what Cleveland needs to ensure they don’t stumble in the postseason, but they’re hardly the only team interested. The Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Clippers will be rig in the thick of things when it comes to signing Perkins, which means the Cavaliers might have to do without any additions in the buyout market.
