To stay with the Washington Redskins, DeAngelo Hall restructured his contract.
At 31 years old, DeAngelo Hall is nearing the end of his career. His 2014 season was cut short after injuring his achilles. With a serious achilles injury as well as getting up in there in age, Hall’s best days in the NFL are almost all but over. There are many steps throughout the NFL offseason. One of those steps is the restructuring period. The Washington Redskins were in need of clearing cap space and they did so to help that cause on Sunday when they restructured Hall’s contract.

While he was a top cornerback in this league a few seasons ago, the Redskins would’ve cut Hall if he hadn’t restructured. According to Pro Football Talk, the Redskins and Hall have agreed upon a restructure that would keep him in Washington. Despite the restructure, for Hall to make the money he is owed in 2015, he will need to first make the 53-man roster.
Even though Hall signed a four-year contract with the team in July, it’s starting look like the Redskins are looking at life after Hall. After bringing in cornerbacks Bashaud Breeland and David Amerson over the past couple of offseasons, the Redskins have made it an initiative to upgrade their secondary. New general manager Scot McCloughan has already said that they will upgrade their secondary.
With their younger cornerbacks and a contract falling in their favor, the Redskins will obviously still have many questions to be answered regarding their secondary. Despite that, this contract gives some clearance and it gives a prelude to what they’re aiming at this offseason. Under the new regime, the Redskins are hoping for immediate success even with their bevy of question marks surrounding not only the roster, but the franchise as well. That being said, by restructuring Hall’s deal, the Redskins are making a point and they are are making it extremely clear with this decision.
