Floyd Mayweather said Manny Pacquiao had extra incentive to get the fight done because he needed the money.

The boxing match up of a lifetime just got done, albeit about five years too late. This May, Floyd Mayweather will finally fight Manny Pacquiao in a super fight that will bring in a huge payday for both men.

So why all of the sudden after all these years did the fight get done? Well, according to Mayweather it is because Pacquiao needs the money.

“The great thing about my career is I did it my way. A lot of guys are forced to do things that they don’t want to do. I honestly believe that, at this particular time, even if Pacquiao didn’t want to fight, he has no choice because his back is against the wall,” Mayweather said, via Fight Hype. “The reason why his back is against the wall is because he needs the money. I don’t. Every property that I have, from Miami to LA to Las Vegas, is paid for. So I’m blessed, and I didn’t do it by myself. My team is around me every day and everybody that has supported me throughout my 19-year career, I’m thankful for.”

There sounds like some truth to it. Pacquiao has made some bad investments over his career and reportedly owes Bob Arum a lot of money for advances.

I mean the dude tried a musical career and there was that whole political career.

Of course the fight with Mayweather should bring him close to a $100 million, which you’d have to imagine would solve his financial woes.
