Cross-promotion is a theme all advertisers like to achieve, but a Tennessee urology clinic achieved an epic fail by linking March Madness with a vasectomy special.

Upper Cumberland Urology Associates in Cookeville, Tenn., wants to do more than cut down the nets during March Madness.

The clinic is running an advertisement featuring “VasMadness,” tying together the heretofore separate concepts of the NCAA basketball tournament and vasectomies.

“Make the most of your NCAA tournament couch time,” the ad proclaims.

Give some credit to the designer of the ad, who is both a psychopath and a graphic genius, because that image with the net, the basketballs and the scissors is absolutely cringe-inducing.

That’s not even getting into the fact that one of the clinic’s doctors is named “Cancel,” which is really appropriate when you think about it.

Apparently, mid-March is a popular time for vasectomies. I had no idea because the terms “minimally invasive” and “my groin area” have been mutually exclusive for nearly a half-century and I intend on keeping it that way.

On one level, it’s genius, but the execution is a bit graphic … OK, no, screw that, it’s a lot graphic.

I mean, combining scissors with the idea of the old mommy-daddy buttons is wrong on so, so many levels that it absolutely boggles the mind.
