Kevin Garnett is back home in Minnesota with the Timberwolves after a trade from the Brooklyn Nets sent him to where he started his career, and he’s excited.

More from Boston Celtics

Kevin Garnett was drafted fifth overall out of high school to the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1995 and spent the next 13 years with the team before getting traded to Boston where he won a title, and then to Brooklyn before getting traded back to Minnesota last week, 20 years after starting his career with the team.

The 38-year-old power forward is very excited to be back with his whole team and probably end his career with Minnesota and he showed it Tuesday when he said, why not come home?

"KG: “If LeBron can go home, why can’t I?” #WelcomeBackKG — MN Timberwolves (@MNTimberwolves) February 24, 2015"

LeBron James (obviously) made huge headlines when he returned to the team that drafted him 2003, the Cleveland Cavaliers, after leaving them to join the Miami Heat from 2010-2014 where he won two NBA championships in 2012 and 2013 and was runner-up in 2010 and 2014.

Kevin Garnett sees no problem with wanting to return home and it’s starting to become a trend in professional sports. Fellow Minnesota superstar Torii Hunter also went back to the Twins for this season after spending seven years away from Minnesota with the Los Angeles Angels and Detroit Tigers.

The veteran Garnett is already making noise in Minnesota, becoming a big leader for the young team that has just two other players aged in their thirties (Gary Neal, Kevin Martin).

"Rubio on KG’s 1st practice: “he already yelled at Pek twice to get back on defense. I don’t think Pek has been yelled at his entire career” — Jon Krawczynski (@APkrawczynski) February 24, 2015"

"Wiggins: “He’s 38. He came in at like 9:30 this morning. First one in the gym.” — Jon Krawczynski (@APkrawczynski) February 24, 2015"

We’ll see if Garnett can help make any changes the young team needs as they sit in last place in the Western Conference with a 12-43 record.
