Dortmund travel to Juventus for the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie


A lot of people are expecting Dortmund to struggle due to the fact they have been having such a poor season domestically. One thing those people aren’t taking in to account is the fact Dortmund always play to their full potential in the Champions League. In addition to that, they are starting to turn a corner in the Bundesliga.

The German side is currently 12th after winning three in a row. If they can bring that form in to these two games against Juventus, then I think it will be the Italians who will struggle.

On the other side of the coin you have to acknowledge the fact Juventus are currently 9 points clear at the top of the Italian Serie A. In their last five domestic games, they have won three and drawn two, not a bad record to be taking in to such a huge game. A vital task for the Italians today is not to concede; if they don’t give away an away goal it will be ridiculously beneficial.

Both teams have fielded the strongest teams available to them, and why not? This is potentially the biggest games of their season. Neither team have a realistic chance of winning out the tournament, and with the money involved just to get out of each round, then this could be the biggest game of the year financially for both of them.
