Chicago Cubs

Another team that has been mentioned as a potential suitor for Cole Hamels is the Chicago Cubs. They are coming off of a huge offseason, in which they were able to sign star pitcher Jon Lester. Being able to pair Lester with Hamels would be an impressive top of the rotation, to say the very least.

Chicago is fairly comfortable with the offense that they are going to put on the field.

Anthony Rizzo, Starlin Castro, and Jorge Soler are going to be big pieces, but they have a lot of talent throughout the entire lineup. Adding pitching is what they will need in order to make their postseason hopes a reality, and Hamels can be had at the right price.

Theo Epstein has all of the pieces necessary to make the type of move that it would take to acquire Hamels. If the Cubs decide that they want Hamels, there is no doubt that they could acquire him before the trade deadline.
