Alex Rodriguez really doesn’t have a lot of people in his corner as he makes his return, but he does apparently have Hank Aaron

You’d be hard-pressed to find someone that’s backing Alex Rodriguez as he is getting set to make his return to Major League Baseball after serving a year-long suspension for PED use. The popular practice is to put the guy down, however not everyone is taking that approach. Believe it or not, there are some people that are in his corner supporting, and Hank Aaron just has to be one of those people.

Yes, that Hank Aaron.

In a recent interview with Newsday, the man who broke Babe Ruth’s all-time home run record in the 1970s came out and offered up his support for the man that many looked at at one time as someone who would eventually become the all-time home run king of baseball.

“I am rooting for him,” Aaron said. “Despite all of the things that people say he had been involved in, I’m rooting for him to come back and have a great year. I am very much anxious to see what he’s going to do. I wish him well, but I just don’t know. When you’re [away] from playing the game the whole year and go out and then have to face kids that are throwing 90 miles an hour, it’s a tough thing.”

While it seems out of the realm of possibility at the moment for Rodriguez to eventually become the all-time home run leader, it’s completely possible that, if he stays healthy and away from suspensions, he can match Aaron’s total of 755.

Should this happen, regardless of what Rodriguez has gone through, Aaron would be alright with it. As a matter of fact, he might even find himself in attendance of the game in which A-Rod does break the record.

“If I wanted to go to the game and A-Rod was playing, I certainly would go to the game,” Aaron said. “I’ve met A-Rod, and to be honest, between him and me, he’s been nothing but a friend to me. I liked him.”

Hey, for all of the people that have been coming out swinging, it has to mean something for Rodriguez to have Aaron in his corner like this.
