Peyton Hillis released by the New York Giants
By Andrew Ross
Peyton Hillis is a seven-year vet, but this could be the end for the one-time star.
The New York Giants signed running back Peyton Hillis just two years ago, but they are already parting ways after he played in only 16 games for them.
In those 16 games, Hillis had only 99 carries for 362 yards and two touchdowns.
There are plenty of athletes that deserve the title of a “one-year wonder,” but Hillis might just take the cake over all of them.

He had a solid rookie season in the limited work that he got with the Denver Broncos – 68 carries for 343 yards and five touchdowns – but he had no opportunities the following season and took his talents to the always wonderful Cleveland.
The Browns were generous enough to give Hillis the full workload for the first time in his career, and he completely dominated the opportunity.
In 270 carries, Hillis racked up a total of 1,654 yards (1,177 rushing, 477 receiving) and 13 touchdowns (11 rushing, two receiving). His rushing yardage was 11th-best among running backs, and his 11 touchdowns on the ground was tied for sixth-most.
The publicity and excitement came quickly for Hillis, and it came on strong.
He was on the television all of the time, had people talking about him every day and then to top things off he was put on the cover of the well-known Madden football game for the 2012 edition.
I don’t know if anyone has the exact answer as to what happened after that magical season, but it was all a steep decline from that season on.
The following season with the Browns he only played in 10 games and saw his yardage get cut in half and his rushing touchdowns fall all the way down to just three.
He then played a season in Kansas City in which he did nothing again, and then he went to New York for the last two seasons he has played.
I’m not sure if Hillis will ever get a job again, but I wouldn’t be shocked if this was the end for him.
Hillis had one fluke season, and that’s what he will be remembered for.
