Cornerback Kyle Wilson is expected to become a free agent on March 10 and not return to the New York Jets next season.
With new head coach Todd Bowles coming in to the New York Jets, and being that he is a former cornerbacks coach, one of the first things he wants to do is revamp the secondary. It seems like he is starting to do that.
According to Kimberley A. Martin of Newsday, cornerback Kyle Wilson is not expected to return to the New York Jets next season and will become a free agent on March 10. Kyle Wilson was a former first-round draft pick (29th overall) of the Jets in 2010. Wilson has appeared in every game for the Jets since being drafted, but has only started 28 games as he never developed into more than a slot cornerback.

Over his five-year career so far, Wilson has recorded 162 tackles, three interceptions and one sack. The Jets were hoping that Wilson would eventually develop into a replacement for Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie, but never was able to become a regular starter on the team. He spent just one season as a regular starter on defense.
The Jets have a lot of questions in the secondary. Dee Milliner (Achilles) and Dexter McDougle (ACL) are promising young cornerbacks, but it is unsure how healthy the two will be heading into the 2015 season after both have undergone surgery this past year.
The Jets will most likely be looking be looking towards free agency and even the draft to look for some more help in the secondary in case Milliner and McDougle aren’t healthy enough to play for the start of the 2015 season.
The front seven of the New York Jets are probably just as good as they have been when the team went to back-to-back AFC Championship games. If Todd Bowles can shore up the secondary and get it at least decent, they should be very competitive on the defensive side of the ball.
