Will Russell Westbrook be missing time with his facial injury?
Russell Westbrook suffered a bad injury in the closing minute of the loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. Will his injury have to require surgery?
In the month of February no one has been playing the game of basketball at a higher level than the Oklahoma City Thunder’s point guard Russell Westbrook, as noted by ESPN Stats and Info.
Westbrook once again had another triple-double on Friday night, as he finished with 40 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists in a 115-112 road loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Not only has Westbrook racked up multiple triple doubles in the month, he’s been looked upon as the newest favorite in the MVP race, and he’s been giving all of his doubters reason to believe that he should win the award.
However, in Westbrook’s last game against the Trail Blazers he was a victim of friendly fire. There was only 2.5 seconds left in the game and Westbrook nailed a free throw to cut the Trail Blazers lead to one point, 113-112.
As Westbrook was running to attempt to get a steal off of the inbound, he fell to the floor. Subsequently, his teammate Andre Roberson hit him in with an inadvertent knee to the face after also attempting to get a steal and win the game.
Roberson’s right knee landed smack dab on the right side of Westbrook’s face, and the All-Star point guard sat on the floor for an extended amount of time as he was in visible pain. The result of Roberson’s knee left Westbrook with a huge dent on the right side of his face, as seen in the following tweet from Anne M. Peterson of the Associated Press.
There’s no word if Westbrook will miss time with this injury. An official update on Westbrook’s injury is expected later today.
The situation couldn’t have come at a worse time because the Thunder’s loss to the Trail Blazers only leaves the door open for other Western Conference teams to catch them.
The New Orleans Pelicans have put together a four-game winning streak without Anthony Davis in their lineup, and are only a half-game out of the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference. In addition, the Phoenix Suns, another hungry Western Conference team, is only a half-game behind the Pelicans.
Russell Westbrook, get well soon.
