Colts ‘unlikely’ to trade for Adrian Peterson
By Evan Massey
Despite all of the trade rumors, the Indianapolis Colts are “unlikely” to acquire star running back Adrian Peterson from the Minnesota Vikings.
It has already been a very eventful offseason as far as the Indianapolis Colts are concerned, and they have been flying around in trade and free agency rumors. One of the biggest rumors had them interested in making a trade for Minnesota Vikings superstar running back Adrian Peterson.

Peterson’s father mentioned the Colts as one of the teams that were interested in trading for Peterson, but according to Stephen Holder from the Indianapolis Star doesn’t see that as a likely possibility.
Indianapolis does have a major need at the running back position, but there are quite a few cheaper options on the market that could be had. Frank Gore is one name that has come up a lot, and there are others that would make sense like Mark Ingram or possibly C.J. Spiller. Peterson is definitely the best out of all three of those names, but he also has a $12.5 million contract that the Colts don’t want to take on.
Looking ahead to 2015 it will be very intriguing to see where Peterson ends up. But as much as fans would like the Vikings to keep Peterson, it’s ultimately up to him if he plays for them ever again.
Peterson’s side doesn’t seem to think that he wants to return to the Vikings. He has felt betrayed by the way that the franchise worked alongside of the NFL to suspend him, and that isn’t something that will just go away.
There are going to be plenty of rumors swirling surrounding Peterson over the course of the offseason, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him end up elsewhere. If he does end up getting dealt, it doesn’t appear that the Colts will be the team that he ends up with at this point in time.
