The recently signed defensive back hasn’t gotten off to a good start with the Ravens

Ravens defensive back Victor Hampton has been arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated. The defensive back was reportedly 100 mph in a 55 mph zone while on Interstate 77 in Charlotte.

His blood-alcohol content was reportedly 0.10 which is above the legal limit of 0.08.

Hampton was an undrafted free agent out of South Carolina in 2014. He spent time with the Bengals and Giants last season before Baltimore signed him.

It’s already tough enough for undrafted players to earn a roster spot in the NFL. Especially, when it’s a playoff team like the Ravens.

Hampton’s time with the Ravens might be over before it even began. If Hampton was indeed intoxicated, he could be facing a two-game suspension in accordance with the league’s substance-abuse policy.

Hampton would have to be on a regular season roster to serve the suspension under league rules. For an undrafted free agent trying to fight his way onto the Ravens roster, Hampton did himself no favors if it is found that he was indeed intoxicated.

If he was intoxicated, it’s doubtful he ever gets a chance at playing for the Ravens.
