Tom Izzo called Frank Kaminsky the best player in the country Sunday night.

Fresh off 68-61 defeat at the hands of the Wisconsin Badgers, Tom Izzo of the Michigan State Spartans had his usual press conference, however, this one was different from many.

Instead of talking most about his team and what they could’ve done better, Izzo talked about Wisconsin’s Frank Kaminsky and how he is far and away the best player in the nation.

In the interview, Izzo said how he had never been more impressed with a player since Glenn Robinson.

For those of you who don’t know, that’s the highest level of praise.

It wasn’t just the praise either. Izzo would go on to say that, if he wasn’t coaching against him and he was in the stands, he’d be clapping in appreciation for Kaminsky and the game he was having.

In this game, Kaminsky was simply dominant.

In 37 minutes, the big man had 31 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and three blocks.

With his help and Nigel Hayes’ 14 points, the Badgers would beat the Spartans and claim the regular season Big Ten title in the process.

After this game, Kaminsky made it clear that he is the frontrunner for the player of the year award.

Izzo would even go as far as saying that Kaminsky was far and away the best player in the country and that he is deserving for the Naismith Player of the Year Award.
