A Yankees fan and retired naval officer will be walking from Florida to New York for charity
Spring Training is underway for the Yankees and one of their fans will begin a trek for a worthy cause. Richard Albero, 65, began his trek from home plate at George M. Steinbrenner Field at the team’s spring training complex in Tampa Bay and will not stop walking until he reaches Yankees Stadium in the Bronx.

The 1,200 mile trek is to raise money for charity.
Albero, a retired naval officer, is walking to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project.
Albero’s goal is to raise $25,000 on the walk. He has already raised over $12,000.
Albero discussed his walk in a statement from the Yankees. “My goal is to support the soldiers who have bravely fought to protect us,” Albero said.
The Wounded Warrior Project is a non-profit organization provides service, programs and events for wounded veterans.
Albero’s journey is one worthy of attention and is a great cause for everyone to get involved with. His journey is already proving to be a success with raising half of his target goal before his walk even began.
The great thing about what Albero is doing, people don’t have to be a Yankees fan or a sports fan in general to support the cause.
