The Texas Longhorns needed a win over No. 14 Baylor in order to keep their tournament hopes alive. However, as the game concluded both teams had trouble keeping their composure
As we enter March, college teams around the nation are looking to secure their spot in the NCAA tournament. This causes games to have some extra emotion involved, which is part of what makes March Madness so great. But for Texas and Baylor, the game ended up getting a little out of hand after their was a couple shoving matches in overtime.
The Longhorns (18-12) really needed this win. After losing four straight, it was not clear whether or not they will make the tournament. Beating the No. 14 team in the nation certainly helps their case, but it was definitely a must win.
Baylor was coming off four big wins in a row against No. 20 West Virginia, No. 12 Iowa State, Kansas State, and Texas Tech. They were looking to take down Texas in order to keep the ball rolling a bit as the enter their conference tournament with some momentum.

The stage was set for this game and it was quite evenly matched throughout. It could not even be decided by regulation.
However, as both teams entered overtime, with about 2:00 minutes left benches cleared as an elbow accidentally found the head of Isiah Taylor.
This led to seven ejections because of players leaving their designated benches. Taylor would end up staying in the game after being pulled away from Baylor players.
He then hit the go ahead bucket with 4.2 seconds left to put away the Bears. But the boys still weren’t done fighting.

Apparently some strong words were exchanged between some of the players in the handshake line. Luckily, the coaches and staff were able to take control quickly enough so nothing violent happened. Still, a Baylor and Texas match up would be epic if they ended up seeing each other in the NCAA tournament this year.
