Both the PGA and the agent of Tiger Woods have refuted the claims that the superstar is serving a suspension for PED use

The status of Tiger Woods has been under a microscope over the course of the past few days, thanks to the claims of 48-year-old former PGA golfer Dan Olsen that he heard Woods is currently serving a secret suspension for use of performance-enhancing drugs.

Well on Monday, two pretty viable sources came out to immediately shoot down the claims–Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg and the PGA themselves.

First, Ty Votaw, the executive vice president of the PGA shot down the claims and he shot them down in a pretty definitive matter.

“There is no truth whatsoever to these claims,” Votaw said Monday via ESPN.com. “We categorically deny these allegations.”

Next, Steinberg took his turn in sticking up for his client in just about as definitive of a manner as Votaw and the PGA did.

“These claims are absolutely, unequivocally and completely false,” said Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg in a statement. “They are unsourced, unverified and completely ridiculous. The PGA Tour has confirmed that there is no truth to these claims.”

The original claims by Olsen were made Friday during an interview 730AM The Game in Michigan, where he more or less said that he had heard through the grapevine that Woods’ absence from the tour is because of a potential PED suspension. People were skeptical of the claims when they were originally made, and now with the denials from Steinberg and the PGA, that skepticism is at a higher level and the credibility of Olsen has taken a further hit.

Back on Feb. 11, shortly after he withdrew from the Farmers Open, Woods announced that he was taking a break to deal with the issues in his game. He has also dealt with more back issues throughout the course of the last year as well as he continues his pursuit of the record of Jack Nicklaus.
