Florida State’s Jameis Winston is excited about the chance to throw to Vincent Jackson if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers make him the first pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Jameis Winston went on his first in-person job interview on Tuesday, as the Florida State quarterback visited the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, giving him and team ownership an opportunity to break the ice and get to know each other as the prospects of the Bucs using the first overall pick in the April 30 NFL draft on the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner.

Having talked with Winston during the NFL Rookie Combine last month, the meeting on Tuesday further solidified that Winston will be donning Bucs colors pretty soon, a reality that he is warming up to, more so after he spent time with Tampa wide receiver Vincent Jackson. The two hung out for a spell, which left Winston enthused about firing the ball downfield to the veteran wideout.

Um….sounds like the job interview went pretty well.

Tuesday was just another piece of good news for Jackson, who learned on Monday that the Buccaneers planned to keep him and his $12.2 million salary for 2015. He will start his fourth season with Tampa following a 2014 campaign that saw him catch 70 passes despite playing for one of the worst offenses in the NFL. Jackson was also able to record his fourth straight 1,000-yard season, marking the sixth time in the last seven years he eclipsed the barrier.

The presence of Jackson would only be part of what could be a very productive set of skill players for Winston to work with, as the Buccaneers will also have explosive Mike Evans coming off a stellar rookie season that saw him catch 68 passes for 1,051 yards and 12 touchdowns. Fellow rookie Austin Seferian-Jenkins showed promise in nine games, as the tight end caught 21 passes and two scores, while running back Charles Sims will compete with former 1,000-yard rusher Doug Martin for the starting spot.

More reason to be convinced the Bucs will pick Winston: it’s pretty unusual for a team to bring in a prospective draft pick two months before the draft. Considering that Tampa has twice used the first overall selection on a quarterback (Vinny Testeverde, 1987; Trent Dilfer, 1994), the Buccaneers and their fanbase are longing that Winston would indeed be the franchise’s charm on its third attempt.

Putting Winston with the Buccaneers would make them a legitimate threat in an weak NFC South along with giving them a cornerstone at the position, something that has separated them from the Falcons, Panthers and Saints.
