‘The Expendables’ is going to be a TV show, because of course it is

The Expendables film series is set to get the TV treatment.
Everyone’s favorite high-octane, balls-to-the-walls, over-the-top action series is headed to television. The folks at Fox are looking to pick up The Expendables as a series with writer and star Sylvester Stallone producing the venture along with Avi Lerner and Shane Brennan who also helped produce the films.

According to ComingSoon.net, the producers plan to use the show to bring together many legendary action television stars much like The Expendables did for film action stars. They’ll be “a new team of highly-skilled heroes who are on a mission to stop a dangerous terrorist.”
Though the movies are not going to win any Oscars anytime soon, the series has $800 million worldwide with a fourth and fifth installment in the works. There is also word of an all-female Expendabelles in development which would be just awesome.
Casting shouldn’t be an issue either. As Deadline explains:
"There is no cast attached or approached yet but the producers have plenty of beloved TV action stars to choose from: Walker Texas Ranger‘s Chuck Norris, who already is part ofThe Expendables feature franchise,24‘s Kiefer Sutherland, Magnum P.I.’s Tom Selleck, Xena‘s Lucy Lawless,Quantum Leap‘s Scott Bakula, Alias‘ Jennifer Garner, A-Team‘s Mr. T andStrike Back‘s Sullivan Stapleton and Philip Winchester, just to name a few."
Say what you will about The Expendables, but they have never strived to be more than what they are: a crazy over the top action flick. Don’t think for a second the filmmakers don’t know they are making a mindless action flick because they do. And it’s fantastic.
The idea for a series was first pitched around 2012 but has been in development hell until now. Hopefully, we’ll be able to see something on the small screen soon.
