Chicago Bears trade Brandon Marshall to Jets
By Josh Sanchez
The Chicago Bears have agreed to trade wide receiver Brandon Marshall to the New York Jets, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Brandon Marshall will get a change of scenery in 2015, Alshon Jeffery will be the unquestioned No. 1 target for the Chicago Bears and the New York Jets will have a true No. 1 wide receiver for whoever their quarterback will be.
All of that was made possible by a trade between the Bears and Jets on Friday morning.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chicago Bears — who were looking to trade or release wide receiver Brandon Marshall — were able to find a trade partner in the Jets and a deal will be completed pending a physical.
It is a big get for the Jets, who have been in search of a No. 1 wide receiver for quite some time.
Now, the team will have Marshall to go along with 2014 free agent signee Eric Decker, Jeremy Kerley and Percy Harvin (unless Harvin is released or traded by the team which many expect them to do).
In 2014, Brandon Marshall hauled in 61 catches for 721 yards and eight touchdowns.
For the Bears, the move means they will now need a No. 2 option opposite Alshon Jeffery for Jay Cutler — or whoever the team decides to start under center in 2015.
It has been a wild offseason so far, and the NFL Free Agency period has yet to begin.
