3 Keys for Success

  1. Jose Abreu needs to continue to be a stud
  2. Bullpen revolution
  3. Pitching in general

As we touched on earlier, Jose Abreu was perhaps the best thing to happen to the Sox in a while. Along with other Cubans such as Yasiel Puig, the Cuban obsession is still at its height.

Abreu needs to carry over his amazing 2014 to 2015 if Ventura’s squad has any shot of winning the division.

While Abreu lifted the lineup to an average season (13th in runs scored), the pitching was god awful (fourth from the bottom in runs allowed). The bullpen especially led the way.

Both Hahn and Ventura will be banking on the fact that Robertson can shut the door in the ninth and last year’s team leader in saves, Jake Petricka with 14, can become the eighth-inning man needed to be a contender. Acquisition Zach Duke will also be relied upon to round out the men out of the pen.

Divisional rivals, the Kansas City Royals, proved just how important bullpens are to postseason success last fall.
