The New England Patriots are mulling who to bring back this offseason as contracts begin to expire, and Darrelle Revis appears to be near the top of the list.

The New England Patriots are Super Bowl champions, but their work to defend that title is well underway with free agency right around the corner this month. Two big names are floating around the marketplace, as Darrelle Revis and Devin McCourty both need new deals and both are going to be targets for the Patriots.

According to NFL.com’s Albert Breer, the New England Patriots are leaving towards signing Darrelle Revis over Devin McCourty, but the chances that they lose both are unlikely.

"I’d be surprised if they lose both of them. I think they’re the favorite to keep Revis. I think McCourty is up in the air. The question kind of comes down to what Revis is looking for. Let’s remember, McCourty hasn’t been paid over the course of his career. He has made money, but he hasn’t been paid over the course of his career what Darrelle Revis has. So you’re talking about guys in two different scenarios.”"

New England isn’t fixing to be a huge player in free agency again this offseason, but it ended up working out alright for them last season. After all, they won the Super Bowl and are in a position now to defend their crown in 2015 — thanks in large part to the way they went about free agency in 2014.

Revis was part of that haul, but McCourty is just as important to the team as Revis is. Where Revis is an elite corner, McCourty still figures to be the team’s future at the position and if the Patriots can bring them both  back it would give them one of the more terrifying secondaries in the NFL — again.
