First the Dallas Cowboys brought back Dez Bryant, and now they are making sure they keep their dominant offensive line together.

Doug Free hasn’t always been the ideal lineman for the Dallas Cowboys ever since they drafted him in the fourth round of the 2007 draft. He has been moved all over the line trying to find a home but after a successful 2014 season the two sides are keeping the good times rolling as they have agreed on a three-year, $15 million deal that has $6 million in guaranteed money.

Free was a full-time starter over the past several years, but injuries kept Free on the sidelines for the final seven games of the Cowboys’ season (five regular season games, two playoff games).

Not only has Free been a dependable player for Dallas, but he has also been extremely versatile, playing left tackle before the Cowboys drafted Tyron Smith.

It was understood that the Cowboys had the best offensive line in the game last season, so bringing back Free was a much-needed move.

It was known that Dallas was going to have a very busy offseason that included trying to keep a lot of their own guys, and Free is the second big chip to fall.

Things first started rolling with the franchise tag of Dez Bryant, and now the sights will be put on DeMarco Murray.

Murray is coming off his best season yet, and it’s largely due to the success of Free and the rest of his offensive line.

It will be interesting to see if the Cowboys get cocky and think that any decent running back will do well behind their blocking beasts, or will they recognize Murray for being a great talent that was only helped from an awesome offensive line.

We should have faith in whatever the Cowboys do, because they really want to improve on their great success last season and prove they weren’t just a one-hit wonder.
