Free agent quarterback Mark Sanchez could be headed back to the Philadelphia Eagles, with reports suggesting the two sides have mutual interest.
It’s slim pickings in NFL Free Agency when Mark Sanchez is among the best quarterbacks available, but that is the harsh reality of the 2015 open market. However, Sanchez may actually never even become available.

According to a report from NJ.com, Mark Sanchez and the Philadelphia Eagles have mutual interest.
As a result, the two sides could be working together again in 2015.
If Sanchez returns to Philadelphia, that means he is content being a backup in the NFL and is not concerned about competing for a starting job. After all, in Philadelphia he would be behind Nick Foles — and potentially another Chip Kelly Oregon toy, Marcus Mariota — on the depth chart.
On the open market, Sanchez could demand quite a bit of attention.
To Sanchez’s credit, however, he could be a backup regardless of where he goes. The difference is that he would already know the playbook if he were to stay in Philadelphia. That makes life a lot easier.
Outside of “The Sanchize,” the best quarterbacks available are Brian Hoyer (gasp), Jake Locker (yikes) and Christian Ponder (woof).
It is a good year to have quarterback stability.
