According to multiple sources, the Dallas Cowboys will retain running back DeMarco Murray.

2014 NFL Offensive Player of the Year DeMarco Murray is likely headed back to the Dallas Cowboys in 2015 and beyond, or so the rumor mill would have you believe.

Charles Robinson, a reporter for Yahoo! Sports, is nearly certain that Murray is headed back to Dallas.

Robinson is just a reporter, one with connections yes, but a reporter. The truth is that until contracts are officially signed, nothing will be official.

If Murray does return to Dallas, it will secure one of the Cowboys’ two primary offensive weapons from the past few seasons–Dez Bryant being the other. Bryant has been the butt of a lot of rumors already this offseason.

First, there were reports that Bryant was involved in some sort of altercation that was pretty damning and may cost him at least a season because of suspension, should the video ever surface.

Then there was the on-again, off-again possible franchise tag he’d face.

The Cowboys finally placed the tag on him on February 21. And so it appears that the Cowboys, who surprised everyone by winning the NFC East last season, will have their two most important offensive players–not named Tony Romo–back in 2015.

The Cowboys also re-signed slot receiver Cole Beasley to a four-year deal on March 3. And so the dynamic Cowboys offense appears ready to return in 2015 almost fully in tow, minus their offensive line coach Bill Callahan who left earlier this offseason to take over the corresponding unit for the division rival Washington Redskins.

As a result of that move, Scott Linehan was officially named offensive coordinator for the upcoming season, while being given a new contract, after calling plays last year but holding the title of “passing game coordinator”.

It looks like Linehan will have at his disposal all of his major weapons from a season ago, of course also including veteran tight Jason Witten and the explosive youngster Terrance Williams.

In fact there are no real questions on the offensive side of the ball, after the Cowboys retained right tackle Doug Free. They will be able to use the draft to continue to bolster their defense and add depth.
