Could star running back Adrian Peterson be heading to the desert? The Arizona Cardinals are reportedly interested.Â
What is going to happen with Adrian Peterson? Conventional wisdom would say the Minnesota Vikings would either retain the star running back or trade him. If Peterson was to be traded, the Dallas Cowboys would appear to be an obvious fit — especially with DeMarco Murray set to hit the open market.

Well, not so fast, my friends.
According to a recent report, a darkhorse contender could be emerging for the former league leading rusher.
Rand Getlin of Yahoo! Sports states the Arizona Cardinals could be in on the Adrian Peterson sweepstakes and that a recent move was made in order to clear the necessary cap space to become major players for his services.
Interestingly enough, the Cardinals are reportedly on Peterson’s list of preferred destinations.

The Arizona Cardinals have been lacking a star running back in recent years, so the addition of Adrian Peterson would be interesting.
With a strong defense already in place, adding Adrian Peterson would allow the Cardinals to rely heavily on the run and their strong defense. As a result, the quarterback — whoever that may be in 2015 — will have less stress on his shoulders.
It remains to be seen whether the Minnesota Vikings will actually part ways with Peterson, but if they do, the suitors will be there.
