Brian Hoyer is on the New York Jets’ radar.

The New York Jets have been a wasteland for quarterbacks for quite some time. Over the past few seasons, they’ve had to rely on the likes of Mark Sanchez, Geno Smith, and even Michael Vick.

With another offseason on the way, the Jets have made changes to their regime and one position they might want to make changes to is the quarterback position. They have been rumored to be interested in one certain player.

Even though he lost his starting quarterback position in the midst of a playoff race to Johnny Manziel, Brian Hoyer is a guy that intrigues the Jets. It has been reported that the Jets have made multiple inquiries for Hoyer, who recently played for the Cleveland Browns. It was reported today by Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News that the Jets liken Hoyer to be one of their quarterbacks.

At a point last year, the Browns were 7-4. However, after throwing seven interceptions in three games from Week 12 to Week 14, the Browns made the switch to the rookie in Manziel. Even though the Browns were in contention at a time to make the playoffs last season, it’s clear that Hoyer wasn’t the reason why. Hoyer’s average QBR last year was a 43.1, which placed 24th out of 30 eligible quarterbacks.

Despite all of this, the Jets still seem content with Hoyer, and although it’s yet to be determined whether he would be the starting quarterback or not, the fact remains that the Jets have had two horrible seasons with Smith as their starting quarterback, and for a team that is looking to go in a different direction in 2015, starting a winning culture is important.

However, that culture isn’t likely with Smith and it’s no surprise to see that the Jets have already reached out to Hoyer and perhaps even other quarterbacks regarding a job for 2015.
