Percy Harvin will be in need of a job in the near future, and the Oakland Raiders might be the team that gives one to him.
The Oakland Raiders need to find a replacement for Randall Cobb now that he has agreed to return to Green Bay, which may lead them to a former standout with standoffish issues. Percy Harvin is not the easiest human being to get along with, but the Raiders are in serious need of a speedy slot threat and they might take a gamble on Harvin this season.
According to Bay Area beat writer Bill Williamson, now that the Raiders have lost out on Randall Cobb they are going to shift focus to Percy Harvin and Jeremy Maclin.
This makes sense since those are two of the next biggest names on the market at the moment. Brandon Marshall is in New York via trade and there is little hope that Andre Johnson would want to sign with the team at this point in his career.
Harvin in Oakland makes too much sense, as the Black Hole is where once talented players go to die. It’s a football boneyard, but that’s all seemingly changing overnight with the arrival of Derek Carr as a potential franchise quarterback and Jack Del Rio as a possible savior at head coach.
It’s been a long time since the Raiders have been respectable, and landing Harvin is a risky move. He’s unstable, and the last thing the Raiders need is a guy coming in and undoing the good thing that seems to be getting going.
Then again, he’s a top tier talent when his head is screwed on straight. If he can become who he was at the beginning of his career in Minnesota, then the Raiders would be foolish not to at least give Harvin a serious look.
