Top cornerback Devin McCourty will stay with the New England Patriots.
With free agency starting in less than two days, one of the hotter commodities who will be available this offseason is Devin McCourty. A player who can line up at cornerback or safety, McCourty has a ton of value and he has been a huge player for the New England Patriots over the past few years. Considering he is one of the top free agents out there, McCourty has drawn a ton of interest. However, McCourty is likely to stick with the Patriots, per source.
According to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports, McCourty will likely be a member of the Patriots for the foreseeable future.
Even though Garafolo, who is one of the better-known NFL insiders out there reported this, Tom E. Curran of CSN New England was the first to report the news. Curran reported that the Patriots will keep either McCourty or star cornerback Darrelle Revis. Curran also reported that the Patriots will likely keep both.
Word was made official when Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com reported that McCourty would not test free agency at all. Instead, McCourty will stick with the Super Bowl champions.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network also reported the news and the contract McCourty would be accepting.
Other rumored teams were the Philadelphia Eagles, the New York Giants, and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
