Report: Titans reach out to Devin McCourty
Patriots free agent safety Devin McCourty has many suitors, it appears the Titans are the latest
When the Patriots decided not to use the franchise tag on safety Devin McCourty, it came as a shock to many. The Patriots rather used their tag on kicker Stephen Gostkowski instead. With a free agent like McCourty hitting the market with a thin safety market, many teams have shown interest in the Super Bowl champion.

The latest team to show interest in McCourty is the Tennessee Titans.
After an abysmal 2-14 season, the Titans need all they can get. The team recently released safety Bernard Pollard and is in need of a safety. The Titans have also brought in legendary defensive mind Dick LeBeau to help run the team’s defense.
According to Titans beat writer Jim Wyatt, the Titans have indeed reached out to McCourty.
With a need at safety it makes sense for the Titans to reach out to the top safety on the market.
Being able to get McCourty however, is another story. The thin safety market and draft class will put McCourty in high demand.
McCourty will certainly command a big contract and it appears there will be lots of teams lined up to pay him. While the Titans have the cap space to offer a big contract to McCourty, he would have to be willing to go play in a rebuilding situation in Tennessee.
If someone like the Eagles, who have been linked to McCourty and are reportedly going to be paying big bucks to Byron Maxwell and Frank Gore, throw money at McCourty, the situation there would surely have to be more appealing to him.
If the Titans can get a visit with McCourty and get him to sign, it would be an instant upgrade to their defense. The Titans also hold the No. 2 pick in the draft and could further address the defense there.
Wherever McCourty ends up, he is going to be paid and paid a lot.
