Chris Bosh to return to basketball activies in September
After receiving the terrible news that Chris Bosh would have to be shut down for the remainder of the season because of blood clots on his lung, the Miami Heat have announced that he will return to the lineup next year
The Miami Heat have announced that Chris Bosh’s road to recovery is more visible than once thought. He could return to the starting lineup as soon as the beginning of next season. Following the All Star game, Bosh was given some bad news regarding his health. Apparently, he had developed blood clots on his lung which would sideline him until they could heal. Now, the Heat have a precautious timeline as to when their super star forward would return to the lineup.
Bosh was averaging 21.1 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game this season before being placed on the injury list. The Heat, while they have had their struggles, were thought to have finally turned the corner and gain some momentum before the second half of the season gets underway with the signing of point guard, Goran Dragic. Unfortunately, the blockbuster trade that sent Dragic to Miami will probably be all for not this year as the Heat hold a 24-38 record, placing them 9th in the Eastern Conference this year.

Despite the Heats troubles, Bosh still remains optimistic about his return and what the future holds for himself and his place with the Heat.
“I’m very happy to be here and I’m doing a lot better,” He said in an interview with the Sun Sentinel. “I’m just happy to be back. I’m happy to be here, to see the fellas. I’m just glad to be back where I belong.”
Of course he is worrying about his safety and health before basketball. But according to Dr. John DeRosimo and Dr. Ed Neff, Bosh is on his way to recovery.
“Chris Bosh will be re-evaluated this month,” the doctors said in a statement they released. “And if cleared, may begin regular exercise at that time with plans to start strength training next month. He is scheduled to resume full basketball activities in September.”
While blood clots on a lung can be very serious, if treated correctly it is nothing modern medicine can’t fix. In 2013, Anderson Varejao had a similar thing happen. Besides missing a significant amount of time, it did not effect his basketball playing ability too much and he returned to the Cavs as the same player he was when he left.
So hopefully this is the case for Chris Bosh as well. He is far away from thinking about retirement at just 30 years of age. And a career ending injury such as this would be tragic. But Bosh, his doctors, and the Heat all remain optimistic about their star forwards return next season.
