Chris Johnson was once known as CJ2K after rushing for over 2,000 yards in a season with the Tennessee Titans. But those days are long behind him and he seems to be wading into dangerous territory following his latest stint in the headlines.

Over the weekend, Johnson was shot in the arm and taken to the hospital following a shooting that claimed the life of his friend.

The good news though is that Chris Johnson appears as though he’s going to be fine. Ian Rapoport from NFL Network reported on Monday afternoon that the ex-Jets running back was released from the hospital and will be recovering at home from his gunshot wound.

The Jets and Titans can attest to the fact that Johnson is really good when he’s on his game and really disappointing when he’s off it. But this crosses over into a entirely different realm of disappointment as hearing Johnson was involved in a shooting is sad on a human level.

There are no fantasy football points to discuss here or a rushing title to try and figure out — it’s just Chris Johnson in a bad situation that claimed the life of his friend and could have claimed his as well. Sometimes football just isn’t that important and that’s the truth here with Johnson.

It doesn’t matter how few yards he rushed for in 2014 or if he flamed out with your team — everyone is pulling for Johnson to make a full recovery.
