Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose spoke to the media about his meniscus injury on Monday and he expressed optimism about returning this season.

It might not be too much longer until we see Derrick Rose back in game action.

On Monday, the Chicago Bulls point guard spoke to the media about his recovery from the torn meniscus injury that was discovered in February and said he expects to return this season.

Rose returning this season would be fantastic for the NBA. While he hasn’t played at a superstar level in years now, he’s still a crucial piece for the Bulls in making a run through the Eastern Conference playoffs. Furthermore, Rose hasn’t appeared in a postseason game since 2012 and it would be great to see the point guard play in that atmosphere again.

Chicago enters Monday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies with a 39-25 record, good for the third place in the Eastern Conference.

Rose was averaging 18.4 points (40.7 percent shooting from the field, 28.7 percent shooting from beyond the arc), five assists and 3.1 rebounds per game this season prior to going down with the injury.

The Bulls drafted Rose with the No. 1 overall pick of the 2008 NBA Draft out of Memphis. Rose has averaged 20.5 points, 6.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game for his career.
