5 Sleepers For Your Fantasy Baseball Team

Today we are going to try to give you an early start on preparing for your fantasy baseball draft. I believe we have identified five solid sleepers for your fantasy baseball team. We will look at where guys are being drafted currently on ESPN.com fantasy leagues and try to take a look at what kind of value they can bring if they do what we all expect. Then give a few suggestions on where you might want to draft these sleepers. Now we don’t want to make decisions for you, but want to help guide you and inform you so you can lead your team to the promised land.

A lot of times the term ‘sleepers’ is thrown around in too many different formats, but for me a sleeper is a guy whose value might be sleeping on draft day and getting little to no respect for one reason or another.

player. 4. Gregory Polanco started off sizzling hot last year and it seemed that he was going to make the transition to the big leagues with ease. Then he began to fall of and wound being shipped back down to Indianapolis for a stint. He finished the season back with the Pirates being used sparingly over the month of September. Well Travis Snyder has been sent away to Baltimore and the job is Polanco’s to take and run with.
Right now Polanco is being drafted at 135 in ESPN.com leagues and could easily return top 50 value if he hits like we think that he can. He is easily a 20/20 guy with the potential to be much, much more. Id try to take him at least 50 spots ahead of where he is being drafted unless you know someone in your league is after him too.
. Outfield. Pittsburgh Pirates. Gregory Polanco. OF

SP. player. 21. Drew Smyly is currently being drafted at 168 in ESPN.com leagues. I would consider taking him about 30-40 spots ahead of that. Smyly has a stellar big league record in over 40 starts. The lefty sports a 3.55 ERA, 1.20 WHIP with 214 strikeouts in 241 innings. Smyly was the big piece that the Rays got back after dealing David Price away and he should be looking at a very secure spot in the Rays rotation this year.
Pitching in the pitcher-friendly Tropicana Field should only serve to help the 26-year-old fly ball pitcher. Smyly is a guy you are going to want on your team so plan to draft him accordingly.
. Starting Pitcher. Tampa Bay Rays. Drew Smyly

7. Yordano Ventura is a freakishly talented player with speed that dips into the triple digits. Ventura is currently being drafted around 172 and about the 49th pitcher off of the board. With this kind of upside he probably should be drafted a lot sooner. Ventura has off-the-chart talent and could easily wind up being the ace for the Royals. Don’t let him slide too low.. Starting Pitcher. Kansas City Royals. Yordano Ventura. SP. player

Next: Sleeper #4

Feb 23, 2015; Lake Buena Vista, FL, USA; Atlanta Brave pitcher Shelby Miller (17) throws during spring training workouts at Champion Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

17. Shelby Miller came over to the Braves when they shipped Jason Heyward to the Cardinals. They are going to be expecting big things from the 24-year-old and he has the proven skills to deliver. He will need to pitch very well as the Braves have pretty much cleaned out their roster in order to build for the future. The Braves still have a very good infield but gone are top-notch defenders, Jason Heyward and Justin Upton. Miller finished last season in a bad way, but hopefully with the new threads and a more focused approach to throwing the cutter he could stand to be a real steal on draft day.. Starting Pitcher. Atlanta Braves. Shelby Miller. SP. player

Mar 6, 2015; Salt River Pima-Maricopa, AZ, USA; Arizona Diamondbacks center fielder A.J. Pollock (11) ground out to third base in the third inning against the Oakland Athletics during a spring training baseball game at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. Mandatory Credit: Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

Outfield. Arizona Diamondbacks. A.J. Pollock. OF. player. 8. A.J. Pollock was on his way to becoming a household fantasy name last year before missing three months of the season due to a fracture in his hand. Last year he hit .302 with 41 runs, seven HRs, 24 RBIs, and 14 SBs. He is a good hitter with a good mixture of speed and power. Even though he was incredible last year his injury should keep his draft day value low enough for you to still snag him at a bargain. Currently he is flying off of the draft board around the 172 mark and is another guy who can deliver top 50 value in five cat leagues.
