Former Dallas Cowboys swing tackle Jermey Parnell is reportedly planning to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
It seems that Jermey Parnell has finally found a starting role.
According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, the former Dallas Cowboys offensive tackle has agreed to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Apparently, the deal is reported to be a five-year, $32 million contract. That is a lot of term and money to throw to a player who has only 7 career starts under his belt.

However, it is a position that the Jaguars desperately need help at. in 2014, the Jaguars allowed a league worst 71 sacks and really seemed to struggle on the right side of the offensive line Josh Wells and Austin Pasztor. Parnell only started 2 games in his first 3 seasons with the Cowboys, but started 5 games in 2014 when he filled in for Doug Free after he went down with an injury. He filled in adequately and helped keep one of the best offensive lines in the NFL last season sturdy.
It has yet to be seen whether Parnell is ready to be a 16-game starter, but the only way to find out is to give him a shot. With the contract the Jaguars have reportedly offered him, they seem to be very confident in his abilities. He will be relied on to play a big role in protecting quarterback Blake Bortles.
The Jaguars may have been one of the teams that were initially looking at Michael Oher, but with Oher recently opting to sign with the Carolina Panthers, this may be the Jaguars backup plan. However, with the kind of term and money they threw at Parnell, he may very well have been their first choice.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have a lot of areas they need to improve on, that comes as on obvious observation after they finished as one of the worst teams in the NFL once again with a 3-13 record. Still, strengthening their offensive line is a good place to start.
