The former Miami Dolphins defensive tackle was one of the team’s priorities for re-signing before the team agreed to terms with Ndamukong Suh.
The Miami Dolphins cap situation heading into the 2015 offseason was already dire before the team agreed to sign preeminent free agent Ndamukong Suh. The team would have needed to rid themselves of the contracts of players like wide receiver Mike Wallace in order to re-sign priorities like defensive tackle Jared Odrick.
Now with Suh soon to become a Dolphin, Odrick will be moving upstate.

From the Sun Sentinel:
"Dolphins defensive tackle Jared Odrick has agreed to terms on a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to a NFL source.Odrick, the Dolphins’ first-round pick in 2010, was seeking a deal in the range of $7 million a year although terms of his deal with Jacksonville aren’t known. Oakland, Denver and Detroit were also believed to be in contention to acquire the former Penn State standout."
Odrick enjoyed a solid campaign for the Dolphins at defensive tackle, recording 29 combined tackles and a sack while creation chaos and disruption along the interior of opposing offensive lines. He doesn’t have the greatest burst as a lineman, and his slender frame for an interior defender makes him less powerful than many of his counterparts.
However, his technique is superb with using his hands to win engagements with offensive lineman, and his active and agile feet are often too much for blockers to contain.
As a scheme versatile player, Jared Odrick can operate as a 3-4 defensive end or an off-center defensive tackle in a 4-3. For the Jaguars, this adds freedom to what they plan on doing on the defensive side of the ball. He would be effective as a three down defensive tackle in the Jags 4-3 defense, both as a pass rusher and a run stopper, but would be able to move to the outside if necessary for the Jags in order to create more bulk on the line.
Odrick would be jumping ahead of Roy Miller and Sen’Derrick Marks along the interior of Jacksonville’s defensive line, and would become perhaps the Jaguars best defensive lineman. Last season, the Jaguars had the NFL’s 26th ranked defense both in terms of scoring and yards allowed, and the team finished 3-13 this past season. Jacksonville hasn’t recorded double-digit wins since 2007, and hasn’t cracked 5 wins in a season since 2011.
The hope is that with signing Jared Odrick to a sensible deal, he would provide the team with a high-end defensive disruptor to help the team climb within the AFC South.
