Ted Ginn reportedly returning to the Carolina Panthers
Wide Receiver and kick return specialist Ted Ginn is reportedly returning to the Carolina Panthers.
When he was released from the Carolina Panthers following the 2013-14 season, Ted Ginn likely thought he would ever play for the Panthers again, or at least not anytime soon. Now, just one year after being released, he is reportedly returning to play for the Panthers again in 2015, according to NBC Sports Pro Football Talk.

The eight-year veteran wide receiver and return specialist spent the 2013 season in Carolina and had one of his best seasons of his career. Ginn recorded 595 kick return yards, averaging 23.8 yards per attempt. He also recorded 316 punt return yards, averaging 12.2 yards per carry. Not only was he effective in the return game for the Panthers, but he also played a significant role in the passing game. Ginn had 36 receptions for 556 yards and 5 touchdowns. It was his best totals since he recorded 56 receptions for 790 yards and 2 touchdowns during his second season in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins in 2008.
Ginn spent the 2014 season with the Arizona Cardinals, where he was mostly just used as a return man. Still, he didn’t seem to be as effective with the Cardinals as he was for the Panthers. In 2014, he compiled 414 kick return yards while averaging 19.0 yards per carry and also recorded 277 punt return yards while averaging 10.7 yards per carry and adding a touchdown. Ginn only had 14 catches for 190 yards in the passing game with Arizona.
The veteran wide receiver and return specialist may be thinking that a return to a familiar organization where he had one of his most productive seasons may be the best thing for him and his career. He didn’t seem to be a good fit in Arizona, and instead of going to a fourth organization in as many years, going back to an organization where he had success is probably the smart move.
During his time with the Panthers, he seemed to develop a very good rapport with quarterback Cam Newton. If the two of them can regain the chemistry that they had in 2013, it will give Newton another target besides Kelvin Benjamin and significantly help the passing game.
