Blaine Gabbert will stay with the 49ers
By Ryan Ratty
Blaine Gabbert will remain with the San Francisco 49ers.
It was reported the other day that the San Francisco 49ers made quarterback Colin Kaepernick available on the trade block. Although general manager Trent Baalke said the reports were not true, something still has to be said about this quarterback position. Although Kaepernick has his critics, if the reports of him being on the block are in fact true, one thing that could happen is the 49ers could be without a quarterback. If the Niners trade Kaepernick, who will be the next best quarterback on their roster? That player is a guy many people ridicule. That guy is Blaine Gabbert.

According to ESPN’s Josina Anderson, Gabbert will stick with the Niners.
The 2011 first-round pick has been an ultimate bust in his short NFL career, but it seems as if he has found himself at the backup quarterback position in San Francisco. Geep Chryst was promoted from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator and he is a big fan of Gabbert. That being said, if Kaepernick gets traded, Gabbert will likely be the stopgap solution at the quarterback position.
Regardless of what happens with Kaepernick and if he does in fact get traded, the 49ers will have their contingency plan in Gabbert. Although Gabbert won’t win a team a Super Bowl or anything, he can very well be a game-manager and let his defense win ball games. Re-signing Gabbert is a good move for the 49ers because it won’t cost that much money and he could turn out to help them in more ways than just being a backup quarterback.
