Darrelle Revis has been offered a contract which will give him an average of $16 million over three years.
It’s no secret that Darrelle Revis is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. In fact, Revis may be perhaps the best cornerback right now in football. Over the course of his career, whether he was with the New England Patriots, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, or the New York Jets, Revis is always atop the league in terms of production. At only 29 years old, Revis has already made the All-Pro team four teams. In comparison, Hall of Fame defensive back Ronnie Lott made the team four times in his career.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Revis’ representatives have told teams who are interested in the Pittsburgh product that they have a three-year deal on the table worth up to $48 million.
La Canfora also reported that he believes the Jets are the team that offered this ludicrous contract. Given that the Jets have the third-most salary cap space and their need to bring in a top cornerback is at an all-time high, it wouldn’t come as a surprise at all if the Jets were in fact this mystery team throwing money on the table for Revis.
Regardless, Revis’ camp knows what they are doing, as even though he is 29 years old, he really has yet to sign a long-term contract. Revis has bet on himself multiple times by taking one-year deals. After helping the Patriots win the Super Bowl and making their defense significantly better in the process, it really comes as no surprise at all that teams are willing to shell out top-dollar for Revis and his services.
