DeMarco Murray, Philadelphia Eagles have mutual interest

DeMaro Murray is a free agent, but the Philadelphia Eagles may be looking to change that in the near future.

Player loyalty is a thing of the past in the NFL, but then again maybe it never existed in the first place. We see teams cut bait on big name players a lot these days thanks to the large contract figures they carry — with Jimmy Graham being the latest under-contract example of that.

But DeMarco Murray has no contract, and he apparently has no loyalty to Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys. It’s not the fact that he is shopping himself around that indicates this lack of loyalty, it’s that the Philadelphia Eagles may be in his future.

According to ESPN’s Adam Caplan, the Philadelphia Eagles are looking at taking a run at DeMarco Murray.

Signing Murray could be huge for the Eagles, who are suddenly without a running back thanks tot he LeSean McCoy trade that was made official on Tuesday. Frank Gore also gave them the cold shoulder after seemingly agreeing to a deal with them.

With McCoy in Buffalo and Gore likely on his way to Indy, the Eagles need a running back and there wouldn’t be a better option than Murray. Dallas let Murray walk in free agency, and signing with a divisional rival in Philadelphia gives him a fire in his belly to show up the Cowboys.

There’s plenty of chatter on Murray though, as the Raiders and Buccaneers have been mentioned recently as being interested and others like Arizona and even Dallas could make plays on him. But the Eagles provide both a perfect destination for Murray and an insanely interesting storyline to follow in the 2015 season, should he decide to sign with them this offseason.
