Justin Forsett is on the Baltimore Ravens’ radar.
One of the more feel-good stories in the NFL this past season was the season Justin Forsett had for the Baltimore Ravens. Following his offensive coordinator, Gary Kubiak, from the Houston Texans to Baltimore, Forsett flourished. Before the year, it looked like the Ravens were going to struggle on offense. Ray Rice was suspended and Bernard Pierce didn’t show that much ability in the running game either. Baltimore’s No. 1 receiver was a has-been version of Steve Smith. Despite all that, the 28-year-old Forsett, now 29, really was the key to his offense and perhaps even the key to this team’s success.
Before 2014, Forsett never ran the ball more than 118 times and 619 yards. Before 2014, Forsett had been on three different teams. Forsett was close to retiring, but then the Ravens called and the decision to sign with them ultimately resurrected his career. In 2014, Forsett ran the football 235 times for 1,266 yards and eight touchdowns. However, he was on just a one-year contract. Aaron Wilson is reporting that the Ravens are focused on re-signing Forsett now that they have created salary cap space.
With Torrey Smith no longer on the team, the Ravens will need to do all they can to bring back the firepower on their offense. Smith caught 49 passes for 767 yards and 11 touchdowns. With unproven guys like Kamar Aiken and Michael Campanaro set to take on bigger roles, the Ravens have to be smart with their group of guys and although re-signing him might cost some money, it might be a needed move if the Ravens are to make the playoffs again. Even though Kubiak is now the head coach of the Denver Broncos, the Ravens’ plan is to re-sign Forsett. This move will be huge for their offense.
