The Pittsburgh Steelers are eying Darrelle Revis — which is both surprising and seemingly unrealistic.

Darrelle Revis is on the open market, and despite endless speculation that has linked him to the Patriots and the Jets, there are a few other teams that could swoop in and make a play for him.

One of those teams is the Pittsburgh Steelers — who need to get back to being a dominant defensive force and have eyes for Revis in free agency.

According to Adam Schefter from ESPN, the Pittsburgh Steelers are trying to get in on Darrelle Revis but it’s not looking realistic that they can land him.

This doesn’t mean the Steelers are out on Revis, it just means their chances aren’t that great. Pittsburgh is a great place for defensive veterans, but if Revis wants the money he’s going to have to look elsewhere. He’s already won a Super Bowl with the Patriots and returning home to the New York Jets seems to be in the cards.

After all, Woody Johnson wants Revis, has the money to give Revis what he wants and has the desire to reunite with his former star. It was an ugly end to the Revis era in New York, and given how much he loved the franchise and the fans when he was there, coming home makes more than little sense.

Pittsburgh and other destinations are nice ideas, but outside of somehow forming an orgy of amazingness in Seattle, Revis signing with anyone other than the Patriots or Jets seems unlikely.
