Eddie Royal signs with Chicago Bears
By Ernie Padaon
The Chicago Bears have signed WR Eddie Royal to a 3-year contract.
The Chicago Bears traded away one of their top receivers this offseason when they sent Brandon Marshall to the New York Jets. The team needed to fins another player that can join the offense in free agency and they have found their man. The Bears have signed free agent WR Eddie Royal to join the offense. Royal was a member of the San Diego Chargers for the last 3 seasons.
When he first came into the league he started with Jay Cutler in Denver. He will get that opportunity to play with him again in Chicago. Royal is an excellent slot receiver and is a great red zone threat.
With the San Diego Chargers, Royal made a number of clutch grabs on 3rd down and was one of the top threats in the red zone. He finished the season with 778 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns. He finished the previous season with 8 touchdowns. Will the Bears look to get him the ball in the red zone again.
Royal’s best season came as a rookie with Jay Cutler throwing him the ball. Royal finished that season with 980 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns with the Denver Broncos.
Royal will be entering his 8th season in the league out of Virginia Tech. He was selected in the 2nd round by the Denver Broncos.
The Chicago Bears traded away Brandon Marshall in the offseason and needed a little more firepower to add to the roster. Royal will join Alshon Jeffery and Marquess Wilson at receiver.
How do you feel Royal will perform in the Bears offense?
