The NFL is investigating agents and teams who broke the tampering rules, but the Miami Dolphins aren’t scared.

The Miami Dolphins snagged top free agent Ndamukong Suh before the weekend was out — which is interesting since no deals could have been signed and made official until Wednesday.

According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins are confident that they did nothing wrong in their recruiting of Suh and didn’t break any of the tampering rules over the weekend.

It’s a bit fishy that Suh and the Dolphins agreed to the deal they did over the weekend when they couldn’t sign anything, but the long wait for the contract to actually be signed is perhaps helping the situation. Then again, Miami isn’t the only team that had deals lined up with players before the tampering period was over and they’re hardly the most aggressive offender.

Still, Suh inked the biggest deal and was the biggest free agent on the market, so the target is natural and it’s large.

The Dolphins may have done a few sketchy things in getting Suh to come to Miami, but they seem to have stayed as within the lines as everyone else did and it’s not their fault that Suh decided he wanted to sign with them and not Detroit or Oakland.
