Will Ferrell to raise money and become baseball star for a day
By Mark Carman
Anchorman hero Will Ferrell to play all nine positions in five different spring training games.
Thursday will be a busy day for actor and comedian Will Ferrell as he shows off his baseball skills to raise money for cancer. Ron Burgundy will appear in five different Cactus League spring training games, using a helicopter to transport him across the desert.

Ferrell plans to play all nine positions, which is impressive and embarrassing at the same time. Can Ferrell throw a strike? It doesn’t look like he can. Can he get down into a crouch and actually catch a 90-mile per hour fastball? These are burning questions baseball fans will get the answer to come Thursday.
If you want to join in on the fun and are in Arizona here is the Ferrell itinerary:
10:05 AM Seattle Mariners at Oakland Athletics (HoHoKam Stadium)
11:10 AM Chicago Cubs at Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (Tempo Diablo Stadium)
12:10 PM Cincinnati Reds at Diamondbacks (Salt River Fields at Talking Stick)
2:05 PM San Francisco Giants at Chicago White Sox (Camelback Ranch)
4:15 PM Los Angeles Dodgers at “they named it San Diego Padres” (Peoria Stadium)
In addition to raising money for a cancer cure, Ferrell plans to honor Bert Campaneris’ feat of playing all nine positions in a game five decades ago. Hopefully the games end better for Ferrell than it did for Campaneris, who unbelievably had to leave the game after a collision at home plate in the 9th inning.
Spring training baseball is great and all, but lets give MLB credit for not taking itself too seriously while raising money for a worthy cause and entertaining us in the process.
