Antonio Cromartie is back with the New York Jets after agreeing to a contract to reunite him with Darrelle Revis.
The New York Jets are bringing the band back together.
After signing Darrelle Revis on Tuesday night, the Jets brought back another former Jets cornerback in the form of Antonio Cromartie who agreed to rejoin the team on Thursday afternoon, according to ESPNās Adam Schefter.
Cromartie played with the Jets from 2010-2013, making two straight Pro Bowl trips in his last two seasons with Gang Green and played opposite Revis for three of his four seasons in New York.
Manish Mehta from the New York Daily News tweets the deal is for four years and worth $32 million.
Cromartie turns 31 in April, but still has plenty of good football left in him it would seem after he made the Pro Bowl for the third straight year in 2014, his first and only season playing for the Arizona Cardinals.
After Cromartie entered the NFL after a torn ACL ended his last season at Florida State and he played sparingly in his rookie season with the San Diego Chargers, he has proven to be extremely durable and consistent.Ā Cromartie has started 110 of 112 games over the last seven seasons and averaged three interceptions per season.
Cromartie had three interceptions, 12 pass deflections, one fumble recovery and 52 combined tackles with the Cardinals last year.
With Cromartie reuniting with Revis in New York he will lock down one half of the field while Revis handles the other and the two have worked so well in the past that despite their advancing age since the last time we saw them in Jets uniforms should still be a formidable duo in the defensive backfield.
Meanwhile, Rex Ryan has to be shaking his head at whatās going in with the Jets and wondering why the team ever let two of his better players leave in the first place.
