Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones stated on Thursday that no one has an edge in the race for the top signal-calling slot

Without question, the most watched quarterback battle this spring will be the one involving the Ohio State Buckeyes. Head coach Urban Meyer has a pretty tough decision on his hands, as he has three quarterbacks on his roster in Cardale Jones, J.T. Barrett and Braxton Miller that can certainly lead this team to another national title.

Now given the fact that he ultimately was the one to lead them to the promised land in 2014, there’s a good amount of people that believe this job is Cardale Jones’ to lose. Once he made the decision to return to Columbus, people have been vocal about this.

However, according to Jones himself, he doesn’t have the edge over his two buddies. As a matter of fact, as he stated on SportsCenter on Thursday morning, none of them have an edge over the others as it stands right now.

Prior to the season getting underway last year, two-time Big Ten Player of the Year winner Braxton Miller went down for the season with a shoulder injury. From there, J.T. Barrett took the reins, and despite losing the second game of the season to Virginia Tech at home, he was able to get Ohio State in a position by the time the season was over to get their way into the inaugural College Football Playoff.

Unfortunately, though, the end of the season was not kind to Barrett, who suffered a broken leg in the season finale against rival Michigan. From that point, Jones took over, set the college football world on fire and the rest is history.

Ultimately, Jones may be right. Knowing the kind of coach that Urban Meyer is, he’s going to let these three battle it out on the field and figure it out from there. Not a bad problem to have on your hands.
