Nate Allen is leaving the Philadelphia Eagles after five seasons and signed a free agent deal with the Oakland Raiders.
The Philadelphia Eagles are currently in the middle of a major roster overhaul with Chip Kelly turning over the roster to get rid of the players who are going to cost too much and/or don’t fit into the type of team he’s building.

Allen, 27, started 69 of 74 career games with the Eagles since they drafted him in the second round (37th overall) our of South Florida in the 2010 NFL Draft. Allen recorded a career-high four interceptions in 2014 and added five pass deflections, one forced fumble, a career-high three fumble recoveries and a combined 62 tackles in 15 games last season.

The Raiders were looking for depth and competition at the safety position, especially considering they released Tyvon Branch earlier this month. Allen was at the Golden State Warriors game last night where they beat the Detroit Pistons by seven.
Oakland has improved up the middle on defense with Allen joining former New Orleans Saints linebacker, Curtis Lofton, who is the team’s new middle linebacker and defensive tackle, Dan Williams, who will anchor the middle of the defensive line.
With Khalil Mack looking like a future All-Pro at one outside linebacker position, the Raiders are hoping by getting stronger up the middle, teams won’t have as much luck running and passing away from Mack’s side of the field.
Raiders fans, how do you feel about the signing of Allen?
