Another veteran on the Philadelphia Eagles could soon playing for a new organization with the team looking to trade guard Evan Mathis.

Two-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro left guard, Evan Mathis could be the latest veteran on the Philadelphia Eagles to be shipped off by Chip Kelly as he remakes the roster to his liking.

Mathis, 33, was an All-Pro left guard in his first season under Kelly but the Eagles head coach is looking at the $11.5 million owed to him over the next two years and looking to flip him on the trade market, according to NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport.

He carries a $6.5 million cap hit in 2015 and $7 million in 2016 and as Kelly said earlier this week in reference to his decision to trade LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills for Kiko Alonso, money is the impetus for decisions like this.

The Eagles are in the middle of a massive roster turnover with established veterans, McCoy, Jeremy Maclin, Trent Cole ushered out-of-town and rising quarterback Nick Foles traded for Sam Bradford as Kelly brings in “his guys.”

One of those guys is former Dallas Cowboys running back and the NFL’s leading rusher last year, DeMarco Murray, who signed with the team on Thursday, but it looks like Mathis won’t be one of the offensive linemen opening up holes for the talented running back.

The Eagles could likely fetch a late-round pick in exchange for Mathis and the market may have been set with the New Orleans Saints getting a fifth round pick from the Kansas City Chiefs for two-time Pro Bowl guard Ben Grubbs earlier on Thursday.

Mathis started nine games last year after a knee injury forced him to miss seven games but he started 47 games the previous three seasons with the Eagles.
