Marcus Mariota went through his Pro Day workout on Thursday and apparently things did not go so well for the Heisman winner

While the consensus right now seems to be that Jameis Winston will be the No. 1 overall pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL Draft, that doesn’t mean that the reigning Heisman winner, Marcus Mariota, can’t do some things to keep himself in the running; you know, like have a good Pro Day workout.

Well he had the chance to help himself on Thursday out in Eugene with his Pro Day workout, but apparently things did not go in his favor.

According to NFL media analyst Daniel Jeremiah, the feedback that he got from those in attendance was that Mariota didn’t exactly do himself any favors with his performance.

“The feedback was it’s not a great workout,” NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah said via NFL.com. “It is what it is.

“He threw the ball better at the Combine in my opinion. It was a little bit underwhelming.”

Now while Mariota didn’t exactly light the world on fire Thursday, as Jeremiah also stated above, he apparently ended up helping himself by deciding to throw at the Combine. A lot of top-tier quarterbacks choose to skip that portion of the event in favor of their Pro Day workout, and it seems as if it’s a good idea that Mariota didn’t decide to go in that direction.

Even the former Oregon quarterback himself admitted after it was all said and done that he probably could have put out a better showing.

“I thought it was ok. There were some missed throws here or there,” said Mariota. “It’s a little different than a game.”

Mariota led Oregon to the College Football Playoff title game last season and captured the Heisman in the process, throwing for 4,454 yards with 42 touchdowns and just four interceptions.
